Not every EV charger is equal and smart EV chargers are now available that allow you to charge your EV from the sun’s free energy harvested by your solar system!
If you don’t have a solar system yet, or when solar generation is low a smart EV charger can be configured to charge your EV during off peak power rates minimising your charging costs.
What charge rate do EV chargers come as?
EV chargers are rated up to 32A per phase which is 7kW for single phase and 22kW for three phase (Residential houses are commonly single phase in SA).
This means a single phase 7kW charger will charge up to 7kWh/hour at maximum charge.
